Ingredients
One 4 oz. package Farmhouse® Long Grain & Wild Rice Traditional Herbs & Seasonings
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 large onion, diced
1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup flour
6 cups chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Prepare rice according to package directions. Set aside.
- In large sauce pan, melt butter or margarine. Add onions and mushrooms and cook until soft.
- Sprinkle flour over onion mixture and cook 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add chicken broth and stir frequently until thickened.
- Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Puree in batches in blender or food processor. Return to sauce pan and add rice. Heat slowly. Season with salt and pepper.
